Riley

Update: Riley, the 1 year old Shih-tzu who was missing since December 4th was found! Here is the update from his loving 'mom' Michelle, who never gave up hope:
'Riley decided to make friends with this college girls dogs and go in their doggy door at night, sleep with them, eat with them and of course play with them. thank you Erie animal network! And thank you to the angel/angels who cared for Riley! Riley looks like a hot mess, but he's finally home :D and Bailey is so excited to have him there! Thank you god, seriously. When Cameron sees Riley he's going to go nuts! I'm happy i still kept my faith that this little warrior was still alive!'

Union City Bunny Caught

LOOSE RABBIT CAUGHT: [Union City area] Ashlyn Thompson posted: Hello! Ron Steger wanted me to send you guys a message to let you know that we have found and rescued another rabbit! Two ladies (Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Eddy) down the road from my house contacted me about a second rabbit they have been keeping an eye on and feeding since AUGUST!! I called Ron and he was able to catch him this morning. He is a white and black lion head rabbit (per Ron). He will be joining our original rescued rabbit (Porscha who has been spayed and placed up for adoption) at Little Angels in New York.

Its off route 5 in the Whitehall development. She is very small and is light brown and white. This was taken last summer and her hair is a little longer and more shaggy right now. She is also 3 years old and answers to the name Puppy. She has a blue Hawaiian print collar on and she is not chipped. She is spayed also. Karri Michael -- Thanks everyone, she is now home. A lady a few houses down the street who didn't know us took her in and kept her for the night. Luckily another lady knew I had shih tzus and called me. I'm going to get them chipped next week I've never had a dog run away before this.

Update- Spot has been found!
UPDATE! Patty Morey Caffro posted on 9/30 - Spot is still missing and after talking to the adopted family of him. We found out the he has been gone since Friday and that they changed his collar to a Harley Davidson collar but they did put his heart tag on. But we dont now if he still has his collar on or not. My sister just wants to find this lovable cat that she raised since birth and thought she find a great home for him. She is offering a reward for his return. Please help us get Spot back home. UPDATE: The boxer we posted as found has been reunited with her owner. Her name is Diamond, by the way. Way to go, Networkers!

This is another story here of true networking.  Dawn, the friend of a core EAN member noted that her friend Chris was missing their dog.  She notified the core member with the photo below.  Our secretary and core member, Holiday, checked the network page and noted that a dog matching that description was found just a few blocks away (but no picture was available).  She told her friend to have them call the number in the post and Diamond was safely returned to her family in just a short time.  Way to go, everyone!!

Luna & Dolly

MISSING DOGS: Amy Hitchings Bridger posted: Sometime between 2pm and 6 pm yesterday, my husky mix slipped her collar/tie out and took off with my lab. Porsha the Bunny

Paula from Little Angels Animal Sanctuary in NY wrote a nice note to the networkers regarding the bunny who was posted as loose on EAN. Thanks to networker Ron for coming to the aid of the bunnies in need!

Update: Networker Ron (who is a rabbit rescue expert) went down to Union City to catch the large domestic rabbit networker Ashlyn reported seeing under the porch of the empty house next door. Ashlyn took a half day off work today to help if needed, and Ron was able to catch the bunny who is safe and on his way to a rabbit rescue in New York. Thank you to Ron and to Ashlyn for helping this bunny in need! :)

 

Loose domestic rabbit: (Union City) Networker Ashlyn reported a large long haired domestic rabbit living under the porch of the house next door to her in the Union City area. She is afraid he or she may have been dumped, as the house has been empty for a couple of years and they are on the outskirts of town. They are in the process of locating a humane trap to catch him to bring him inside. In the meantime, if anyone is missing a rabbit in this area, please contact EAN and we will put you in touch.

A Happy Home for 'Mark'! This kitty was alone in his east Erie neighborhood for 8 months, after his family moved away and left him there. Kindly neighbors had been feeding him, but he needed a home and family to call his own. I went and picked him up, found him to be completely charming and he was a joy to foster. He recently went to his new home, and as you can see, he is fitting right in. His new 'mom' just adores him and he is now affectionately named 'Mr. Mayhem'.

Kittens found in a stairwell

Update: Remember the newborn kittens who were found abandoned in a stairwell in Erie at the end of October? As you may recall, 6 newborn kittens were found abandoned by their mother and crying for food. Networkers Shirley and Laurie, who are both experienced bottle feeders, took them in under the foster guidance of Orphan Angels. After 2 weeks of round the clock care and bottle feeding, 2 of the k...ittens had stopped eating. The vet said they seemed to have 'given up' and advised assist feeding. Despite a valiant effort, the two kittens did pass away. The remaining 4 are doing great and are now eating on their own. Thank you Shirley and Laurie for your compassion, love and care in helping these kittens who needed you!
